Fraternity Purpose
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity, and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community. |
Fraternity History
In the fall of 1907, four students at NYU's School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance—Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello, Henry Albert Tienken, and Harold Valentine Jacobs—drafted and adopted the Fraternity's constitution. Since our founding, Delta Sigma Pi has become the nation's premier business fraternity that has grown to almost 350 collegiate and alumni chapters with 285,000 initiated members. Committed to scholarship, building leadership skills, and promoting connections between businesses and students, Delta Sigma Pi is determined to prepare members for future professional success.

Founded in 2017 by six UChicago students and officially reactivated as a nationally-recognized chapter in 2019, the Alpha Psi chapter is comprised of over 90 current students from all over the globe. Membership is largely focused around three key pillars - social, professional, and service, and current members benefit from participation in a wide variety of chapter-sponsored events and initiatives each year. Joining Delta Sigma Pi at the University of Chicago not only provides a wealth of educational events and resources, mentorship, and professional training, but also access to the entire DSP network of members, alumni, and corporate partners, and a close-knit community where you will build strong, lasting relationships with driven and talented peers.
Community Service
At the national level, Delta Sigma Pi promotes service initiatives through our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities. Ronald McDonald House Charities is committed to support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. At the chapter level, Alpha Psi has a standing service partnership with Ignite, a Chicago-based nonprofit that supports homeless and housing-insecure youth by providing stable housing, access to employment and educational opportunities, primary and mental health care, and lasting connections with adult mentors.
Statement on Diversity and Inclusion
The Diversity and Inclusion Committee roots all Delta Sigma Pi initiatives, pledge and member education, social and professional events in the values of equality between genders, races, sexual orientations, disabilities, and other sources of diversity. We aim to foster a community where Diversity and Inclusion is inherent and celebrated, and where members actively champion these values both as students, and as future business leaders.
